How we build each stone
The same five steps run on every commission. Stone is the slowest of the substrate families we work with — the cadence respects that.
Memorial wording or a regional motif — name and dates, a compass / anchor / ship / heraldic mark, a business logo, a one-line sentiment. We confirm the scale, the orientation, and where the piece is going.
Parian marble for fine engraved detail, granite for outdoor permanence, or a piece of natural fieldstone you bring us. Substrate choices are discussed on reply rather than up front; the brief lands first, the stone follows.
A hand-drawn or digital proof with the wording typeset to the stone's dimensions, the motif scaled to the face, and the carve depth tuned to the substrate. Nothing goes to the chisel until you've signed the layout off.
Hand-cut lettering, relief carving, intentional weathering on fieldstone, or a polished face on Parian or granite. Finishes per the substrate — sealed for outdoor permanence, honed for interior display, or natural as carved.
The finished piece is crated at the Atlantic Canada workshop and shipped to its destination — a garden, a memorial site, a business entrance, a home. Larger work is quoted for crating + freight separately on reply.
